Pre-Wedding Skin Prep
Your skin is going to be photographed, filmed, and looked at more closely than almost any other day of your life — so it’s no surprise that great skin is one of the most requested wedding-prep goals we hear at Eye and Face Clinic. Whether you’re the bride, the groom, or anyone else in the wedding party, our Aesthetician Gillian Power builds a personalised skin plan that works with your timeline, so your skin looks calm, radiant, and camera-ready on the day — with no last-minute surprises.
The golden rule of wedding skin prep is timing: the more intensive a treatment, the earlier it needs to happen. Gillian’s approach is built around this principle, layering treatments so that your skin has plenty of time to heal, settle, and show its best results before you walk down the aisle.
A Skincare & Treatment Guide for Brides and Grooms.
6+ Months Before: Build the Foundation
This is the ideal time to start, especially if you have any specific concerns — acne, pigmentation, scarring, or early signs of ageing — that need real time to improve.
- Book a consultation with Gillian for a full skin assessment and to map out your personalised plan
- Begin a medical-grade homecare routine suited to your skin, including daily SPF
- Start a course of treatments for any specific concerns — such as chemical peels for tone and texture, or SkinPen Microneedling for scarring and fine lines
- If considering more advanced treatments like RF microneedling or CO2 laser resurfacing, this window allows enough time for full healing and results to mature well before the big day
- Consider starting Skinade to support collagen and hydration from the inside out
3–4 Months Before: Refine and Build
With the foundation in place, this is the time to keep building momentum with regular treatments.
- Continue your course of chemical peels or microneedling sessions, spaced as recommended
- Introduce IPL if addressing redness, sun damage, or pigmentation
- Keep up daily homecare and Skinade consistently — results compound over time
- This is the last comfortable window for any more intensive treatments with longer downtime
6–8 Weeks Before: Final Adjustments
By now, most of the heavy lifting should be done. This stage is about fine-tuning.
- A final chemical peel or microneedling session, allowing enough time for full results and any residual flaking to resolve
- Address any last areas of concern with Gillian’s guidance
- Avoid starting any brand-new active ingredients or treatments you haven’t tried before
2–4 Weeks Before: Glow-Focused Treatments Only
This is not the time for anything with downtime. Focus shifts entirely to calming, brightening, and glow.
- A gentle, hydrating facial to boost radiance without any risk of reaction
- Dermaplaning around 1–2 weeks before, for instant smoothness and glow — an excellent finishing treatment
- Continue simple, consistent homecare — this is not the time to experiment
1 Week Before: Keep It Simple
- Stick to your established skincare routine — no new products or treatments
- Stay hydrated, prioritise sleep, and keep stress in check where you can — all show up in the skin
- A final light, hydrating facial if your skin would benefit, but nothing stimulating or exfoliating
The Day Before and Wedding Day
- Cleanse, hydrate, and apply SPF as normal — consistency is what gives skin its best glow
- Avoid trying anything new, including skincare, food, or drink that could cause a reaction
- Trust the process — the results of months of treatment and homecare are what will carry through on the day
A Note for Grooms
This entire plan works exactly the same way for grooms as it does for brides. Skin concerns like breakouts, dullness, redness, and fine lines respond to the same treatments regardless of gender, and an increasing number of grooms are booking in for pre-wedding skin prep. Gillian tailors every plan individually — there is no ‘one size fits all’ routine, whoever you are.
Working alongside Dr Janice Brady
For more advanced treatments — such as CO2 laser resurfacing and injectables— Gillian works closely with Consultant Surgeon Dr Janice Brady to ensure these are carried out with appropriate medical oversight and, crucially, early enough in your timeline to heal fully before the big day.
Plan Early for the Best Results
The single most common regret we hear is starting too late. The earlier you book your consultation, the more options — and the better the results — you’ll have available to you. Gillian will build a realistic, personalised plan around your wedding date, your skin, and your goals.
