Polynucleotides work gradually and progressively, stimulating the skin’s own regenerative processes over time. Patients require 3 treatments, spaced 2 weeks apart, to achieve optimal results. Many patients then choose to return for maintenance treatments every 6 to 12 months to sustain their results.
You may notice some initial improvement in skin hydration and texture within the first few weeks, with the full benefits of the treatment continuing to develop over the following months as collagen production increases.
Most people describe it as series of small pinpricks as the micro-injections are administered, similar to other injectable treatments. A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand to minimize discomfort, so the sensation is generally mild to moderate rather than sharp pain. Areas with thinner skin, like under the eyes, can feel slightly more sensitive than areas like the cheeks.
Polynucleotide treatments are minimally invasive with little to no downtime. Some patients may experience mild redness, swelling, or small injection-site marks immediately after treatment, but these typically resolve within 24 to 48 hours. Most patients return to their normal activities the same day. As with any injections bruising can occur though every care is made to reduce the risk of it.
