See and Treat Skin lesions

See and Treat in a single visit

Noticing a new skin lesion — or watching an existing one change — can be an unsettling experience.

The Same Day Skin Lesion Clinic at UPMC Aut Even Kilkenny was designed to remove that wait entirely. You are assessed and — where appropriate — treated on the same day.

The clinic is led personally by Ms Janice Brady, Consultant Oculoplastic Surgeon, who brings specialist surgical expertise to the assessment and management of skin lesions — with a particular focus on lesions of the eyelids, periocular region, and face.

How it Works

Morning

Arrival & assessment

You arrive at UPMC Aut Even and are seen by Ms Brady in a relaxed, unhurried clinic. She will take a full history and examine the lesion(s) carefully.

Your treatment plan

She will discuss your findings with you in detail and if appropriate, can organise removal or biopsy on the same day.

Any procedure will be discussed with you in full — including what is involved  and what to expect going forward. You will have the opportunity to ask questions. If you are happy to go ahead, you are booked in for the procedure that same afternoon.

Procedure under local anaesthetic

Your procedure is performed under local anaesthetic in a dedicated theatre environment at UPMC Aut Even. Excision and biopsy procedures are straightforward, typically taking 20–40 minutes. You will be awake and comfortable throughout. If necessary, any tissue removed is sent immediately to the laboratory.

Home with personalised aftercare

Before you leave, you receive full written aftercare instructions and a contact number for any queries.

Laboratory results

Any tissue biopsied or excised is processed by a specialist dermatopathology laboratory with a rapid turnaround. Ms Brady will contact you personally with your results and discuss any next steps, ensuring you are never left waiting and wondering.

What We Treat

The clinic is equipped to assess and treat a wide range of skin lesions on the face, eyelids, and body. Ms Brady’s specialist background in oculoplastic surgery makes her particularly expert in the management of lesions around the eye — a sensitive and surgically demanding area that requires a high level of specialist skill.

Skin lesions of the eyelid & periocular area

Lumps, bumps, cysts, or pigmented lesions on or around the eyelids

The most common skin cancer, often appearing as a pearly or translucent lump, particularly around the eye area and on the face. Requires careful surgical excision.

A common form of skin cancer presenting as a firm, scaly or crusted lesion. Early excision is important and curative in the vast majority of cases.

Changing moles, new pigmented lesions, or lesions with irregular features warrant prompt assessment and, where indicated, excision for histological analysis.

Benign cysts beneath the skin surface that may become inflamed or troublesome. Straightforward surgical excision is curative.

Yellowish plaques of cholesterol deposits around the eyelids. Removal can be performed surgically with excellent cosmetic results.

Benign fleshy growths that are easily removed for comfort, cosmesis, or because they are catching or causing irritation.

Persistent lid margin lumps or tarsal cysts that have failed to resolve with conservative treatment.

Any skin lesion that has changed in size, shape, colour, or behaviour — or that bleeds, crusts, or does not heal — should be assessed promptly. When in doubt, get it checked.

What it treats / Common concerns

Anti wrinkle injections can target common signs of ageing and some medical concerns:

How Anti Wrinkle Injections Work

Anti wrinkle injections use a prescription-only medicine delivered in tiny amounts to specific facial muscles. By relaxing the muscles responsible for wrinkles, lines soften and the skin looks smoother. Results are subtle and tailored, especially when performed by an experienced medical team.

What it feels like

Most clients describe anti wrinkle injections as a series of quick pinches. To keep you comfortable, we use numbing cream or an ice pack before treatment. The session is short, usually around 15-30 minutes, and you can return to daily activities straight away.

How to access the clinic

The Same Day Skin Lesion Clinic accepts both self-referrals and GP referrals. There is no requirement to wait for a GP appointment first — if you are concerned about a lesion, you are welcome to contact our rooms directly.
