CO2 Laser

CO2 Laser Resurfacing

Our most powerful skin rejuvenation treatment, CO2 laser resurfacing delivers results gentler treatments can’t match for deep wrinkles, significant sun damage, and established scarring. Given its intensity, it’s performed personally by Consultant Surgeon, Dr Janice Brady, ensuring the highest standard of care from consultation through recovery.

The laser precisely removes damaged outer skin while heating the deeper dermis — removing years of surface damage in one step and triggering collagen remodelling that continues for months. Using a fractional CO2 laser, Dr Brady adjusts depth and intensity to your skin, from lighter resurfacing to more intensive treatment for deeper concerns.

What it treats

How it works

Treatment is performed with topical numbing and, where appropriate, additional comfort measures, which Dr Brady will discuss with you beforehand. The procedure typically takes 30–60 minutes, depending on the area being treated and the depth of resurfacing required. Most people describe a warm, prickling sensation during treatment.

Instead of Common Concerns replace with Downtime and recovery

CO2 laser resurfacing carries the most significant downtime of any treatment at Eye and Face Clinic, and this is an important factor in deciding whether it’s right for you at this time. Skin typically becomes red, swollen, and weeping in the first few days, followed by peeling and flaking as the new skin surface forms — usually resolving over 5–10 days, depending on treatment intensity. Some residual pinkness can persist for several weeks afterwards. Dr Brady will provide detailed aftercare instructions and see you for follow-up to monitor your healing.

Results

Initial improvement is visible as soon as the skin has healed, with collagen remodelling continuing for 3–6 months after treatment — many patients find their skin looks its best around the 3–4 month mark. Results are dramatic and long-lasting compared with gentler resurfacing options, particularly for deeper wrinkles and established scarring. Depending on your skin and goals, one or a small number of treatments may be enough, which Dr Brady will discuss with you individually.

Aftercare & review

Following Dr Brady’s aftercare instructions closely is essential for safe healing and optimal results. This includes gentle, specific post-procedure skincare, keeping the skin protected from the sun, and avoiding picking or premature exfoliation of healing skin. Daily broad-spectrum SPF is essential once the skin has healed, to protect your results and prevent new sun damage.
