Sculptra

Sculptra

At Eye and Face Clinic, Dr Janice Brady offers Sculptra — a clinically proven, FDA-approved injectable that works with the body’s own processes to restore facial volume and firmness. Rather than filling, Sculptra rebuilds, stimulating your skin to produce its own collagen for natural, gradual, long-lasting results.

Sculptra, or poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), is a biodegradable, biocompatible synthetic polymer with over three decades of safe use in medicine, including dissolvable sutures and soft tissue implants — giving it an outstanding safety record and FDA approval.

As a biostimulator injectable, Sculptra encourages natural collagen production to smooth wrinkles and improve skin tightness for a refreshed appearance.

What can Sculptra treat?

How does it Work

Rather than filling wrinkles topically, Sculptra works within the skin’s structure to replace lost collagen and rebuild volume gradually.

After injection, fibroblasts are stimulated to produce new collagen as the body metabolises the poly-L-lactic acid particles. This new collagen gradually firms the skin and softens lines — a slow, natural process. Full collagen production takes 4–6 months, though many notice improvement within six weeks.

The result: skin that looks and feels naturally rejuvenated — firmer, smoother, and more youthful.

What it feels like

During treatment – Most people feel small pinpricks or stinging, similar to other injectables. Sculptra is mixed with a diluent containing lidocaine, which numbs the area as treatment progresses, so discomfort eases as the session continues. Topical numbing cream may also be applied beforehand.

Immediately after – The area often feels swollen, tight, or fuller. Small bumps or nodules may be felt at injection points — this is normal and usually settles within days to a couple of weeks.

Risks & side effects

Swelling, redness, and tenderness at injection sites, usually settling within a few days to a week. Bruising, which can occasionally last up to two weeks depending on the area treated. Small bumps or nodules palpable under the skin immediately after treatment, these typically settle as the product disperses and are part of why post-treatment massage is recommended. Itching at the injection site. Temporary firmness or tightness in the treated area as the skin adjusts.

DAY 1-4

Swelling, redness, firmness peak in 24–48 hours; bumps or bruising may occur.

DAY 5-14

Swelling and bruising settle; lumpiness smooths out.

1 MONTH

Early collagen-driven improvement begins.

TREATMENT FREQUENCY

2–3 sessions, 4–6 weeks apart. Results last up to 2 years, with occasional touch-ups.

Combining treatments

Sculptra works well alongside other treatments at Eye and Face Clinic:

  • Dermal fillers — immediate volume, complementing Sculptra’s gradual effect
  • Anti-wrinkle injections — comprehensive facial rejuvenation
  • HArmonyCa — dual-action lifting and collagen stimulation
  • Skin boosters and polynucleotides — enhanced hydration and radiance

Dr Brady will advise during your consultation whether combining treatments suits your goals.
